J’aime Paris — Favorite Memories from my First Trip to the City of Lights

Almost 10 years ago I was sitting at work and I got a call from my husband who said, “How would you like to go to Paris for our first wedding anniversary?” Imagine my surprise since our 1-year anniversary was actually that weekend. I remember my answer was swift, “When do we leave?” I had never been to Paris and it was definitely on my bucket list. I had always been so curious and anxious to experience the culture, history, architecture, art, fashion, nightlife, cafes, and mostly, the food.

I have so many great memories from our Paris trip but one that stands out was our night at the famous Moulin Rouge. I’m sure to some it sounds cheesy that we actually went there but it was awesome and a definite highlight. I remember they sat us with another couple where the wife spoke a little English and the husband spoke none. This was a perfect pairing as Adam spoke a little French and I spoke none. We smiled and nodded our heads a lot but we had a blast. The Can-Can dancers were beautiful and even though I didn’t understand a word they sang or said, it didn’t matter.

I will forever be grateful to Adam for surprising me with that trip to Paris. I love that city and I can’t wait to visit it again one day soon — and  next time, with Jack. I know he will love the croissants and pastries just as much as we did. Until then – J’aime Paris – and I can’t wait to see you again! xo
